Washington, September 9 – President Joe Biden calls it the “Pandemic of the Unvaccinated.” mentioning that “We’ve been patient but our patience is wearing thin.”
It’s the next step of the current administration’s efforts to get the nation vaccinated, and it’s a very aggressive one–
All companies that have 100 or more employees need to get fully vaccinated or the employee needs to provide a negative Covid-19 test at least once a week, citing companies like United Airlines, Disney, Tyson’s Foods, and Fox News.
This comes, just a few months after President Biden required all federal workers, and by extension, all contractors that do business with the federal government, to get fully vaccinated, with no option of a regular test that would allow the employees to opt-out. Included in this mandate are other Government Agencies such as the Department of Defense, the National Institute of Health, and the Department of Veterans Affairs, just to name a few. In fact, the Pentagon has mentioned that they plan to make vaccination for Covid-19 mandatory for all military service personnel.
This move, although very assertive, is not a singular event. Many countries around the world are putting in place similar directives to make the lives of the unvaccinated very difficult.
- In France, healthcare workers, retirement home staff, and even the fire service face suspension if they are not vaccinated
- Italy has made its own “Green Pass” that restricts a lot of activities to only the vaccinated or tested within the last 48 hours– movie theatres, sporting events, gyms, fairs, pools, restaurants, parties, and bars.
- In Germany, the unvaccinated will not get paid for lost time, if Covid-19 restrictions make them stay at home to be quarantined.
- UAE has boasted 93% vaccination (at least one dose) as they have made nearly every space restricted to the unvaccinated, with only a few essential exemptions.
Just to drive in our point, in our little corner of the economy, we Government Contractors are required to get vaccinated. This is no longer a question of politics, freedom of choice, or health. It has now become a question of employment. Think of it as another DCAA, or FAR, or CAS concern; If we want to keep our jobs, and our financial sustenance, we and every part of our team, needs to get our Covid-19 vaccines.
